United States: Walmart stores and supermarkets in the United States have recalled broccoli in 20 states.

Details of the Recall

Braga Fresh last week recalled a 12-ounce bag of Marketside Broccoli Florets which may carry Listeria monocytogenes, as reported by The Hills.

The FDA posted the advisory Tuesday, and for this pathogen, it says that it can lead to fetal and sometimes fatal infections, especially in children, the elderly, or those with certain health risks.

It leads to conditions such as high fever, serious headaches, stiff neck, vomiting, tummy ache, and diarrhea, said the FDA. It can develop to miscarriages and stillbirths in pregnant women, the agency says.

Consumer Advisory

Braga Fresh informed its clients that the broccoli has passed the “best if used by date” though it was possibly contaminated, and since most of the affected broccoli is no longer out on the markets, consumers who bought the broccoli for future use and keep them in their fridges and freezers should dispose of them, as reported by The Hills.

This product could only be purchased at Walmart, as per the advisory.

No disease has been associated with the product, according to the advisory issued by the agency.
