Nestlé Recalls Frozen Meals Over Choking Hazard

United States: The food production company Nestle USA issued a product recall for several frozen meal products because wood-like particles were discovered within them, thus posing a choking risk.

Restaurants continue to pull Lean Cuisine and Stouffer’s dishes from shelves because wood-like impurities were discovered in products set to expire between September 2025 and April 2026, as reported by Associated Press.

The recalled items include:

  • Lean Cuisine Spinach Artichoke Ravioli
  • Lean Cuisine produces Lemon Garlic Shrimp Stir Fry as one of their frozen meals.
  • Stouffer’s Party Size Chicken Lasagna
  • The prepared meals entered the market through major U.S. retail outlets starting in September 2024 and finishing in March 2025.

Other Products Remain Safe

Customers do not need to stop purchasing Lean Cuisine® or STOUFFER’S® products as the recall specifically excludes all other available products according to FDA regulatory information on their website.

The recall was activated because customers reported discovering foreign matter inside the food products, which they brought to the attention of the company. The Associated Press documented that at least one consumer experienced choking during the incident.

Nestlé Cooperating with Regulators

“We are working with the U.S. Food & Drug Administration and the U.S. Department of Agriculture on this recall and will cooperate with them fully,” Nestle wrote in a statement.
