United Sates: Walmart has pulled ready to eat Marketside Fresh Cut Cucumber Slices from 34 stores in Texas because of a salmonella risk. Raw cucumbers from SunFed Produce, Arizona, are associated with the salmonella outbreak that took place between October 12 and November 15, as reported by NBC News.
Recall Affects Products
The peanuts and cucumbers have been recalled with the date codes up to December 1. Consumers who bought these products are advised to proceed to throw away or return to the store for a refund.
Possible Consequences of Getting a Salmonella Infection
Salmonella can be very dangerous and cause high fever, diarrhoea especially with blood, abdominal pains stomach upsets and vomiting. On average, according to the Cleveland Clinic, 420 people in the United States die due to the salmonella-related diseases.
Immediate action
Notably, Walmart, and SunFed Produce have not dawdled to respond to the crisis. SunFed’s President, Craig Slate, tried to bring confidence to the company’s clients, claiming that “as soon as we got aware of this problem we did everything possible to address consumers’ security.”
Review How Recall Impacts
The cabbages and cucumbers were shipped between October 12 and November 26 to Walmart, COSCO, and other retail stores across the United States and in five provinces in Canada. This procedure is used mainly in an attempt to minimise the extent of exposure to more contaminated products in the market, as reported by NBC News.
